Specialized Uses The smallest ball we can supply is 1mm diameter often used in model making. The largest is 8½” diameter Thermoset Resin ball. We offer both metric and imperial sizes in a variety of colours. Crystal Clear Acrylic balls from 1.5mm to 6” diameter – no bubbles in our balls!
Cellulose Acetate: The smallest balls we supply are 1mm acetate in a Magenta colour. Other sizes are 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.35mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 3.5mm, 4mm, 4.5mm, 5mm and 5.5mm. This material is available in many different colours. Specific Gravity of ~1.36g/cc. Delrin® (Acetal): A hardwearing pure white plastic – will drill and tap well. An excellent bearing material with high mechanical strength and rigidity. Nylon 66 (Zytel 101®): A natural coloured material produced by DuPont. Again a tough material suitable for machining with resistance to abrasion and many chemicals.
Polypropylene and Polyethylene: These are the only solid balls we supply that float in water (less than 1g/cc). Some colours are produced but we mainly supply a water white ball. We also stock hollow PP/PE from ¼” to 150mm diameter. PTFE (Teflon®): The only inert material we offer – soft white in appearance but can withstand very high temperatures and the majority of chemicals. Hollow “Teflon” balls can be produced to order.
Torlon®: has exceptional physical and chemical properties and can withstand continuous exposure to high temperatures. Vespel®: provides outstanding wear resistance in lubricated or unlubricated environments. It resists wear, fights creep and practically never melts! We also supply various special dyes to colour certain plastic materials – please ask for more information. Rubber materials in stock:
